Margaret Ballard age 80 died Saturday August 28, 2010 in the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, OK. She was born near Pleasanton, TX on August 27, 1930 to Tony and Cecilia Arnold. After graduating from Pleasanton High School, she attended Incarnate Word College and Santa Rosa School of Nursing in San Antonio, graduating with a B.S. in Nursing. At a later time she did graduate work at Northern State College and the University of South Dakota. She worked at V.A. hospitals in Texas, M.D. Anderson Hospital, Brooke Army Hospital, San Antonio Health Department, Fort Yates, North Dakota Indian Hospital and Aberdeen, South Dakota Indian Health office. She also taught in elementary school in Texas and New Mexico. After coming to the Grove area in 1977, she worked at the Delaware County Health department, the Jay Indian clinic, the Claremore Indian Hospital and the Concho Indian Clinic. She was a certified community health nurse. After retiring, she volunteered at the Christian Mission Thrift Center and the Christian Health Clinic, as a docent at Harber Village and played the organ at church. She liked to travel and enjoyed music, art, reading, and needlework. Preceding her in death are her parents, one sister, one brother, two nieces, and two nephews. She is survived by a daughter Susan Humphries and husband Gene, a grandson Jason Humphries and wife Rebecca of Ft. Collins, CO. , a brother Alfred Arnold and wife Lucille of Holiday Island, AR sisters Dorothy Arnold of Pleasanton, TX and Cecile Tays and husband Jim of Hot Springs, SD. Also three great grand children, three nieces, and two nephews There will be a Celebration of Life Mass at 1 PM on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at the St Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove. A Rosary will be held during the visitation on Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial of cremains will be at Saint Andrews Cemetery in Pleasanton, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Christian Health Center in Grove. The services are under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK.
