Margaret Ann "Maggie" Galletly, 64, of Grove, Oklahoma ended her courageous battle with cancer at 3:50 p.m., on Friday, June 19, 2009 at her home. Margaret was born December 26, 1944 in Kensington, Kansas to Norval and Thelma R. (Ferguson) King. She moved to Colorado as a young girl. As a very young teenager, Margaret sang professionally on television stations in Denver, Colorado. In 1962, Maggie graduated from Westminster High School in Westminster, Colorado. She attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. On February 17, 1964, after a whirlwind courtship of only 9 days, she married William "Bill" Galletly in Casper, Wyoming. Together they had three children, Leigh, Diane, and Mike. Margaret's family was the primary focus of her life. She was the great cheerleader of her family. Her home was a haven, a place where everyone was made to feel welcome and comfortable. She was incredibly creative and used her creativity to plan sleepovers when the children were young, Christmas Open Houses for her civic-minded husband, and weddings and receptions for her grown children. Maggie never missed an opportunity to volunteer in the communities where she lived. She helped children in schools learn to read, promoted her staunch Democratic beliefs with the League of Women Voters, was a dynamic force in AMBUCS, and assisted Senior Citizens in cutting the red tape as she helped them get Medicaid Benefits. Margaret moved to Grove in November of 2002 when Bill became Grove City Manager. There are many who mourn Margaret's death, but none more so than her husband of 45 years, Bill Galletly of Grove; one son, Mike Galletly and his wife Laurie of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Diane Milam and husband Robert of Oklahoma City, OK, and Leigh Bamford of Lawton, OK; one brother, Roger King and his wife Cecilia of Willis, TX; one sister, Mary King of Laramie, WY; six grandchildren, David Milam, Douglas Milam, Andrew Bamford, Bethany Bamford, Justin Galletly, and Caitlin Galletly. Margaret's parents preceded her in death, her father in 1973, and her mother on January 10, 2009. A Memorial Service for Margaret will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove with Rev. David Devore officiating. The family suggests memorials in memory of Margaret to either the American Cancer Society or Integris Regency Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove. Friends and family may leave condolences on line at www.honoringmemories.com.
