Margaret L. Pennington was born on May 7, 1921, in Roanoke, Virginia to E. Ray and Edna Lee Ferrell. She died peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90. Margaret was raised and educated in Tulsa graduating from Central High School in 1938. She met her future husband, Murrel W. Pennington, at Oklahoma State University. Margaret spent her adult life in the Vinita area raising her children, teaching kindergarten, and actively participating at First Baptist Church. Her keen sense of humor, graciousness, and thoughtful actions will be fondly remembered. Margaret consciously chose to maintain a positive attitude every day of her life. She is survived by son, Dr. Larry R. Pennington of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bob Benne of Miami, son and daughter-in-law, W. Lane and Susan Pennington of Tulsa, brother and sister-in-law Ray and Marsha Ferrell of Tulsa, and brothers-in-law Buford Wester and wife Imogene of Claremore and Dr. Brison Gooch and wife Freda of Silverton, Colorado. Margaret was actively involved in the lives of her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as "Aunt Margaret" to four nieces, three nephews and their families. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Murrel, and sisters, Virginia Wester and Dr. Shirley Gooch. Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday, November 4, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Vinita, with graveside services to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
