Marguerite Julia Spencer, age 90, a longtime resident of Copan passed on at Medicalodge of Dewey, Saturday February 2, 2008. Marguerite Julia Spencer was born in Springfield, Missouri to William Mack Parsley and Lura Bella (Willhite) Parsley September 26, 1917. Marguerite married Benjamin Roy Spencer November 2, 1935; to this union was born three children, William "Bill" Spencer of Choctaw, Bennie Lou Boltz and Lura Marguerite Bryan, both of Copan. Marguerite is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Roy Spencer, her parents William Mack Parsley and Lura Bella (Willhite) Parsley and her daughter, Bennie Boltz, one sister, Betty Shadwick and three brothers…Mack, Howard and Jack Parsley. Marguerite was a devoted mother and Grandmother. She was always there for her family to give comfort in times of need and provide solid guidance at every opportunity. She always seemed to know just what to say and how to say it. Her guidance was based on her beliefs and backed in a positive Christian way. Marguerite loved to fish, she loved her plants and the bushes around her house. She could cook anything just right. She took pride in taking care of her husband and spending quality time with him. Marguerite was a member of the Copan Baptist Church; she found great pleasure in passing her belief in God on to others and most of all, she loved to sing with her husband at her side. She and her husband would sing to all at church and they would sing with their family in their own living room, at every opportunity. These are some of our fondest memories. Marguerite was loving, caring and a teacher of right over wrong. We are blessed for many years to come because of the blessings she passed to us. Of these lessons, the most valuable was how she taught others to forgive and keep striving to be a better person to everyone. She is survived by a daughter, Lura Bryan of Copan, a son William Spencer and his wife Bonnie of Choctaw, Ok, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the Rose Hill Community Baptist Church and those who wish to contribute may do so in lieu of flowers to the Rose Hill Community Baptist Church, 12950 N 4000 Rd, Dewey, Oklahoma 74029.
