An account has been set up at Arvest Bank in Nowata for memorials for the Smith Family. Maria Del Socorro Smith, 49, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 in Nowata County. She was born March 28, 1965 in Piura Peru to Sebastian and Teresa (Vega) Santos, the 20th of nineteen siblings. On December 29, 2009 she married Kevin Dale Smith in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Maria was a very special lady that loved people. She spent much of her time caring for others and taking care of her family. She was a special mom and enjoyed hosting her boys' friends. Maria enjoyed traveling. They loved jumping in the car and just going someplace. She loved to cook and could dance to anything. Maria loved Nowata High School sports and supported her family at all their games. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and Peruvians in Oklahoma group. She was very involved in her church and worked with the youth. Maria loved animals and attended college where she worked on becoming a veterinarian. She was loved by so many people and will be truly missed. Maria is survived by her mother Teresa Santos of Piura, Peru; a daughter Ana Maria Perez and her fiancé Derek Alspach of Nowata; four sons, Ronald Davis of Nowata, Kent Smith and his fiancé Anna Cline of St. Louis, MO., Keith Smith of St. Louis, MO., Kris Smith and his fiancé Carrie Schneider of St. Louis, MO. She is preceded in death by her father Sebastian Santos; her husband, Kevin Dale Smith, and a son, Leigh (Davis) Smith.
