Marilyn Broaddus (Richardson) Rose, 79, retired Bluestem Girl Scout Executive Director died Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at her home in Bartlesville. Marilyn was born in Bartlesville, OK August 27, 1931 the daughter of Verlin Thomas Broaddus and Beatrice (St. Clair) Broaddus. She was raised in Bartlesville by her Mother and Mildred and Herman Kaiser and graduated from College High School in 1949, and then graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education. After graduation she pursued a teaching career, married Raymond C. Richardson, and returned to Bartlesville in 1966. Raising 3 children as a homemaker she was very active in Girl Scouts of America, Phillips 66 Splash Club, Good Shepard Presbyterian Church and numerous local community organizations. In 1979, Marilyn married Earl Rose. She was passionately active in leadership roles in local, national, and international non-profit organizations including Pilot International (where she served as International President in 1994), Tourette Syndrome Association, OK Mozart Music Festival, United States Power Squadron, Grand Lake Sailing Club, and Therapeutic Horseback Riding. She was an avid sailor with her husband Earl and competed in (and won) numerous races on Grand Lake and in other sailing events in a Catalina 22 sailboat named "Smoothie". Marilyn is survived by her sister Clarice Cooper of Las Vegas, NV, 2 nieces Diane Reimold of Memphis, TN, Sharon Bidmead of Indianapolis, IN, five loving children Susan Curnutte of Crystal Beach, FL, Tom Richardson and his wife Mel of Webster Groves, MO, and Rob Richardson and his wife Paula of Phoenix, AZ, Bill Rose and his wife Judi of Roslyn, PA, and David Rose of Cardiff, CA, eight grandchildren, Josh Curnutte of San Diego, CA, Dylan Curnutte of Crystal Beach, FL, Levi Curnutte of Conway, SC, Scott Rose of Roslyn PA, Jennifer and Anna Rose of Lenexa, KS, Ryan Richardson of Tucson, AZ, and Jackie Richardson of Phoenix, AZ. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl Rose, and son Stephen W. Rose. Memorial services for Mrs. Rose will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
