Marjorie Harwood

Marjorie Harwood, 93 year old Grand Lake resident, died Sunday November 22, 2009. She was born in Queen City, Missouri on January 1, 1916 the daughter of W.J. and Josephine (Swetnam) Casper. She attended Pittsburg State University and taught elementary school, typing, and music in Humboldt, Kansas. On May 25, 1941 she was united in marriage to Elmer Harwood and together they raised three sons. Marjorie was an avid bridge player, enjoyed bird watching, and was a church soloist. They moved to the Grand Lake area in 1980. She was an active member of the Ketchum United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of Chapter AM, PEO in Humboldt, Kansas, Lakeside Garden Club, and the United Methodist Women. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Elmer, parents, and one brother Ken Casper. Survivors include her three sons: Dan Harwood and wife Darlene of Owasso, Robert Harwood and wife Susan of Chanute, Kansas, and Joe Harwood of Grand Lake; four grandsons, two granddaughters, one great grandson, and one great granddaughter. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday November 24, 2009 at Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley, OK. Family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 25, 2009 at the Ketchum United Methodist Church with pastors Diana Bradford and Carl Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at McLaughlin Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ketchum United Methodist Church. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home.
