Mark Lynn Buchanan 58 year old well known Vinita resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. Born on October 17, 1958 in Tulsa to Vernon and Phyllis (Hughes) Buchanan. Mark attended school in Tulsa until he was about 13 years old, then the family moved to Vinita, where he graduated from the Vinita School System. He married Janet Scott on November 7, 1981 in Vinita at the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church. Mark was a manager at Westco Home Furnishings in Vinita, before taking a job with GRDA. He worked for GRDA for 27 years and had retired on December 1, 2016. Mark was the coal yard shift supervisor for the last eight years, and had also been a coal yard equipment operator. Mark enjoyed many past times in his life, he loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle and made the pilgrimage to Sturgis, South Dakota many times to the annual bike rally. He also liked to brew his own beer, and had begun to make his own label brand. Mark also remodeled homes and liked to cook for his friends and family on his BBQ Smoker. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family includes; his wife Janet of the home; daughter, Ashley Buchanan of Tulsa; a brother Greg Buchanan and wife Margie of Tulsa; step-mother, Velma Buchanan of Vinita; nieces and nephews, Seth Buchanan, Melissa and Cory Treece, John and Lisa Riley, Jessica Riley, Elizabeth and Josh West, Justine and Alyssa Scott. The celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Vinita, with Pastor Robert Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at the Carselowey Cemetery southeast of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
