Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK 918-786-2261. Marvin Shelby Smith of Tulsa Oklahoma passed away on September 16, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital at the age of 86. Marvin "Mike" was one of 8 children born to Henry Lee and Doshia Mae (DuBois) Smith. He was born on August 14, 1929 in Bernice, Oklahoma. Marvin was united in marriage to the love of his life Willa Dean Todd on July 24, 1949 in Afton Oklahoma. Marvin worked for over 32 years for American Airlines; he retired as a Crew Chief. He enjoyed building things from remodeling houses to bird houses, he could fix just about anything. Marvin enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. He had strong political social concerns that he often acted upon by researching solutions and recommending them to the appropriate institution. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mike was always ready for a good conversation. Marvin was preceded in death by parents Henry and Doshia Smith, 6 siblings; Thomas Dee Smith, Elsie O'Donnell, Warren Smith, Bob Smith, Billy Smith and Paul Smith. He is survived by his wife Willa Dean Smith of the home, two children Michael Smith and his wife Sherri of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Anita Moses of Tulsa Oklahoma and one brother Wayne Smith of Zena, Oklahoma. Marvin was blessed with three grandchildren; Megann Smith, Nick Smith and Emily Culpepper and two great grandchildren Winston and Docia. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday September 22, 2015 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton Oklahoma.
