Mary Sue Carroll, 73 year old rural Vinita resident, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Autumn Wood Memory Care in Claremore. She was born September 1, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa to Cecil Edward and Helen Kathryn (Herbrecht) Calkin. They lived in Des Moines until 1955, when they moved to Vinita. Mary Sue graduated from Vinita High School in 1958 and was the Salutatorian. She attended NEO A & M College before her marriage to John Phillip "Phil" Carroll in February of 1959. Mary Sue went to work for the First National Bank in 1967 and worked there until her retirement in 2004, she was an Administrative Assistant in Accounting. Mary Sue was an active member of the Utopia Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, shopping with the girls, and being with the grandchildren. The family includes: her husband Phil of the home, daughter, Debra Lynn Landrum and husband Craig of Vinita, a son, Rodney Dale Carroll and wife Mary of Naperville, Illinois; a sister Sandra Louise King and husband Richard of Acton, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Brett Landrum and wife Brittany of Collinsville, Clint Landrum and wife Kylie of Bentonville, Arkansas, Meaghan Carroll of Naperville, Illinois, Mary Kate Carroll of Naperville, Illinois and great-grandson, Logan Landrum of Collinsville. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2013 at the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita. The funeral service will be held Saturday November 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Utopia Baptist Church near Pensacola, with Pastors Randy Thorman and Linn Jones officiating.
