Funeral services for Mary Alice (Alford) Hubbard are 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Nowata with Rev. Anthony Nash officiating. Mary Alice (Alford) Hubbard left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, December 23, 2013 at Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. She was born August 14, 1945 in Choctaw County, Oklahoma to Velma Arlene (Shields) Chambers and Virdie David Alford Sawyer. Mary was a 1963 graduate of Nowata High School. She was a cook at the Glass mansion for 30+ years. Mary was united in marriage on August 14, 1987 in Nowata to Jerry D. Hubbard. They made their home here in Nowata where they raised their children. After retiring, she worked for ten years at the Jane Phillips Nowata health Center. Mary was a very loving and giving person. She helped any one any time. She loved delivering meals on wheels, and caring for others. Her husband, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and all other family members knew each one of them had a special place in her heart. When not helping others, Mary loved gardening and raising her chickens. Mary was a very loved person that will be missed by all who knew her. She loved her weekend getaways to Tulsa to do things with her kids. Mary is survived by three children, Jamal Alford of Tulsa, Sandra Ellington and husband Jeff of Tulsa, Eddie Alford of Nowata; five step children, Monica and her husband Jerome Griffey of Clarksville, Tennessee, Malinda and her husband larry Jones of Clarksville, Tennesee, Jerry Hubbard JR of Tulsa, Dean Hubbard of Boley, OK, Shawn Dent of Ark City, Kansas; eight siblings, Nathaniel Alford of Nowata, Betty Kirkendoll and husband Lawrence of Oklahoma City, Velma DeSilva and husband Edward of McKinney, Texas, Tealla Phillips of Oklahoma City, Gracie Tilmon and husband David of Taylors, South Carolina, Henry Alford of Nowata, Cordell Alford and wife Tonya of Tulsa, Harlene Alford and wife Carrie of Columbus, Kansas; 21 grandchildren, 32 Great grandchildren; four very close friends, Sheryl Caliman, Thelma Bates, Betty Hicks, Gail Hersey, David Coulon, Tawn Stewart, and Beverly Gibson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerry D. Hubbard, and a close friend Marie Nash.
