Mary Keeler passed away at her home in Claremore, Oklahoma on September 8th, 2012. She was 88 years old. Mary was born on March 12, 1924 in Delaware, Oklahoma to Edd and Florence Wood. She married Gerald E Keeler on December 8, 1941, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, in Nowata. During their marriage of 54 years, the couple had two children, Carolyn Fernandez and Connie Majors. Mary was a diligent worker all her life; on the homestead doing chores, at the KOP ammunition plant in Parsons, KS, and at the Cherryvale Garment Factory. Her children, grand children, and great-grand children will all miss the abundance of desserts and dishes she made from her hard work in the garden and in her kitchen. Mary will be remembered for her road trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Saturday nights at Caney Valley Speedway, quilt making, and her lemon cake recipe! Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Joe Lee Woods, Clifford C Woods, Ocie E Worthington, by her husband, Gerald E Keeler, and by her daughter, Connie Jo (Keeler) Majors. She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Ann (Keeler) Fernandez of Claremore, OK and sister Ruth W Swalley of Delaware, OK. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Sandy Donahue and husband Richard of Inola, OK, Connie (Pam) Bates and husband Don of Plano, TX, Joe Fernandez and wife Jenny of Greenwood, MO, Jerry Majors, Melody Majors. Mary also had 6 great-grandchildren: Misty Miller, Michele Holmes, Alyse Bates, India Fernandez, Lauren Fernandez, and Joe Fernandez, Jr. A graveside funeral for Mary will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Ball Cemetery in Childers.
