Mary Owens, 72, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma departed from life on November 28 at her home surrounded by her children.
Mary was born on May 11, 1950 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was the youngest daughter of her beloved mother Roxie Johnson. After graduating high school, Mary attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where she met and fell in love with her husband of 42 years, Benny Owens.
Mary and Benny had four boys who they raised in the country outside of Bartlesville. Mary put herself through nursing school when her youngest son started Kindergarten. She worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 20 years in the Bartlesville community, caring for hundreds of patients.
Mary was an avid collector, world traveler and great cook. Cruising the world was her favorite pastime. She and Benny were frequent cruisers and loved encouraging others to start cruising. They were always known to already have the next one booked.
Mary was “the most wonderful mother in the whole wide world” to her four boys. She instilled in them a love for travel, the notion of always trying something at least one time, and a strong will. She gave the best hugs and always had something to share.
Being a grandmother was one of her favorite roles. She spoiled her grandchildren with toys, dollars in their birthday cards and more snack drop offs than anyone could ever count.
Mary leaves behind her four sons and their families; Steven Owens and Heather Jones of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Eric and Melissa Owens of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Scott and Jesseca Owens of Argyle, Texas, Travis and Jill Owens of Owasso, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren; Christian, Landon, Kendal, Mackenzie, Christian Wayne, Orion, Phoenix, Ealand, Kali and Ellette.
