Mary Elizabeth (Nicholson) Price passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2015, having lived in ten decades. Mary was born April 1, 1922 to Clarence Owen (Nick) and Sarah Melissa (Sadie) Nicholson. At that time they lived in an oilfield camp at Wild Horse (Osage County) Oklahoma between Prue and Hominy. She was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She was educated in Wann, Lenapah, and Bradley, Illinois schools and graduated from Wann High School in 1940. She was also a graduate of Marinello Beauty Academy in St. Louis, Missouri in 1942. Although she was hesitant to admit it until recently, she worked as a keypunch operator during World War II in Washington D.C. on the very first computer ever invented. Mary and Marvin Robert (Dough) Price were married June 12, 1945 in Tyro, Kansas. He died October 29, 1989. They lived in Lenapah, Delaware, Nowata, and Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She owned beauty salons in Delaware and Nowata as well as worked at the Vanity Box and Kel-Mur Beauty Shops in Coffeyville. Mary was a member of Sunrise Chapter #22, Order of the Eastern Star; Sunshine Court #26, Order of the Amaranth; and Bethel Shrine #3 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was especially proud of being Worthy Matron of Tahlequah and Delaware Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Marvin R. Price; her parents, Clarence and Sadie Nicholson; her sisters, Ida "Louise" Allen and Betsy Windhorst and her brother, David S. "Bud" Nicholson. She is survived by her sister Nola (Mrs. Paul) Ochman of Pennsylvania and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her son Billy Ray Hawk (Vickie) Beaver of Delaware and her daughters Merry Marlene Kincaide, Dee Anne Kester and Sherry Lynn Stoll (Raymond F.), all of Nowata and her special adopted daughter Chris Chisum (Tony) and her family of Oologah. She has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved each of them and cherished them greatly. Her family was of utmost importance to her. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the First Church of God, Pine and Seneca, Nowata, OK . Interment will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, OK. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Benjamin Funeral Service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service.
