Mary Smith

Mary Margaret Smith left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 28, 2012. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born October 19, 1941 to Leo and Frances Dick at the family home in Lenapah, OK. She attended school at Lenapah and Nowata. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Nowata, OK. Throughout her life, she was a machinist, nurse, upholsterer, and drapery maker. She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, and golfing. The love of her life was James (Chatter) Smith. Survivors of Margaret are two children, a son Eric Long, Sr. of Stillwater and a daughter, Dawn Harvey and husband Bob of Nowata. She had seven grandchildren, Kenneth Shidler, Lacey Briggs and husband Tim all of Nowata, Eric Long, Jr. and wife Jenny of Dumas, Texas, Nick Shidler of Las Vegas, Nevada, Montana Burton and wife Amber of Perkins, OK., Rayne and Lane Long both of Stillwater, OK. She also had 12 great grandkids. Margaret has four surviving brothers, Donald and wife Mary Dick of Tuttle, OK., Joe Dick of South Coffeyville, OK., Paul and wife Claudia Dick of Dewey, OK., and John and wife Becky Dick of Bartlesville, OK. She has three surviving sisters, Lillian Crisp, Leona and husband Bill Hogue, and Ruth and husband Fred Hill all of Nowata. Margaret is preceded in death by her mom and dad, husband Chatter Smith, sister Velma Harvey, brother Charles Dick, sister Nadine Sue Dick, sister in laws Sue Dick and Glenna Dick. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Mary will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel with interment following at the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery.
