Maude Helen Paullus Maude Helen Paullus was born April 6, 1914 to James E. and Dora (McCurry) Paullus, in Talala. She passed away November 26, 2006 at Forrest Hills, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She attended school at Sunnyside, a wing school of Talala, and graduated from Talala High School in 1931. Helen received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State College, and masters degree from Oklahoma State University. She taught school thirty years. Mrs. Paullus taught at Oakland, a rural school in Chautauqua County, Kansas. The rest of her teaching career was in Oklahoma, at Sunnyside, Love, Oologah, Bushyhead, and Inola, in Rogers County. She also taught at Sapulpa, Pawnee, and Collinsville. Mrs. Paullus enjoyed reading, researching her genealogy, singing, and a bible study she attended while at the Sterling House. She was of the Baptist Faith. Preceding Mrs. Paullus in death are her parents, James and Dora Paullus; brothers, Clyde Bray, Emanuel, Jim, Joe, and Frank Paullus; sisters, Lola Bray Higeons, Melvin Hendricks, Ella Adams, Mary Ketchum, and Edith Bryan. Surviving Mrs. Paullus are sisters Geneva Stroup, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Minnie Johnston, of Chelsea, many nieces' nephews, other relatives, and friends.
