September 27, 1913 — January 29, 2009

Maudie Lee Lankford of Tulsa was welcomed inot Heaven on January 29, 2009 at the remarkable age of 95. She stepped way from this world in Tulsa, where she had returned in 2007, after residing in Vinita for nearly 30 years. Maudie was born in Paola, Oklahoma on September 27, 1913 to Thomas Jefferson Davis and Millie (Amonett) Davis. She was preceded to Heaven by her loving husband of 47 years, Floyd Lankford, and two sons, Quinton Burgess of Muskogee and Wilbert Burgess of Vinita, and one sister Lillian Mason of Edmund. She is survived by another sister, Ada Seamans of Bellville, Kansas, Ruth Burgess of Muskogee, her daughter-in-law, Harold and Aletha Lankford of Carthage Missouri, her stepson and his wife. And, her "unofficially adopted son", Roger Peacock of Tulsa, who she helped raise since his birth. Maudie loved traveling, especially through the Colorado Rocky Mountains and to Yellowstone National Park, and to Europe. She retired form the nursing profession many years ago while living in Tulsa originally. During the 1950s, Maudie managed the accounting for she and Floyd's family business, Lankford's Garage; and was employed with the Frank Hudson family from 1938 to 1968. She will be dearly missed by her remaining family and many adoring friends. Her celebration of life services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday February 2, 2009 at the Vinita Church of Christ, with internment to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow. Her minister, James Woodall of Vinita, will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday February 1, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
