Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Maurice Earlin Broom, 73, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Stillwater Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1943 in Tulsa, OK to Maurice Ray and Margaret "Sally" (Woody) Broom. Maurice grew up in Tulsa and was a graduate of Nathan Hale High School. He attended college in California, before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Maurice was stationed in South Korea and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Upon completion of his military service in November of 1966, Maurice returned to Tulsa. He had moved to Stillwater, a few years ago, to be near his daughter. Maurice had many skills, and before his health became an issue, he worked for Braden Steel and Nelson Electric among others. He collected model trains and tea cups and loved fishing and fixing things. Maurice is survived by a daughter, Margaret Mantooth and husband John of Stillwater; four sisters, Verdabel "Kitty" Wells of Fairland, OK., Gwen Foley and husband Wayne of Kellyville, OK., Illene Cloyde and husband Bob of Tulsa, OK., Keril McDermitt of Catoosa, OK., three grandchildren (James, Corwin, and Rebecca), and his faithful canine companion, Stewie. Maurice was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
