Maurine Catherine (Darnell) Lightfoot 81 year-old lifetime area resident, died Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the University Village in Tulsa. She was born April 17, 1927 near Vinita to Jess and Effie (Mefford) Darnell. Maurine married Robert R. Lightfoot on March 29, 1945 in Vinita. She had worked for National Trailer Convoy, and was active in the family's ranching operation. Maurine was a member of the Community Christ Church in Vinita. She enjoyed serving on the Beef Council, cooking (especially apple pie), canning, gardening, and travelling. Maurine was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Elaine Janet Huey in March of 2008, also a grandson Jesse Huey in 1996. The family includes; her husband Robert R. Lightfoot, her children, Karen Lightfoot Smalley and husband Jim of Muskogee, Robert R. "Bud" Lightfoot of Tulsa, Katherine de la Garza and husband John of Richardson, Texas, a son in-law Mike Huey of Bristow; three brothers, Carl Darnell and wife Alice of Bluejacket, Joe Darnell and wife Betty of Owasso, Ernest Darnell and wife Ruth of Tulsa, a sister Norma Ball of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Dawn Anderson, Jamie Mungle, Greg Huey, Carisa Ramming, Gabriela de la Garza and one great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Woods. The memorial service will be held Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Christ Church in Vinita, Mr. Robert Harper and Mr. Don Goettel will officiate. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
