Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK....918-253-3222.....Melvin Eugene Sloan, 82 year old, Eucha, Oklahoma resident, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 in Joplin, MO. Melvin was born on April 27, 1932 in Eucha, Oklahoma to Thomas and Martha Sloan. Melvin grew up in the Eucha area and attended school in Eucha. He served his country in the United States Army during peace time. He married Marilyn Bridgeman in Miami, OK in the late 1950's. Melvin worked 25 years in Elkhart, KS in the Body shop at the Ford dealership. In his later years he worked various jobs in the Jay and Eucha area. He enjoyed woodworking, playing guitar, and fishing but most of all he loved to be with his family. He will be greatly missed. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Jackie Sloan; two sisters: Pearl Black and Mary Johnson; and two brothers: Junior Sloan and Benny Sloan. He is survived by his daughter Beverly Gentry and her husband Reeves of Jay, OK; one granddaughter Rebecca Aycock of Broken Arrow, OK; two grandsons: Rusty Aycock and Bradley Aycock both of Broken Arrow, OK; former wife Marilyn Sloan of Eucha, OK; one brother Lee Sloan and his wife Ruth of Jay, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Melvin will be held at 10AM on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Burial will follow at the Military Cemetery north of Langley, OK. Visitation will be from 12PM to 5PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK.
