Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.....918-786-2261.... Melvin â�œMelâ Douglas Snowder, passed away at the Grand Lake Villa in Grove, OK on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the age of 81. Mel was born on August 25, 1932 in Lincoln, AR, the son of the late Dock Newton Snowder and Lottie Emily (Kiser) Snowder. Mel joined the United States Navy on September 17, 1952 and served is country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was discharge on September 14, 1956. He married Dorothy Evelyn Ketcher on August 16, 1954 in Tahlequah, OK. Mel worked as a welder on the pipeline for many years and was a member of the Local Union 798 out of Tulsa, OK. He was a lifetime VFW member, bowled at playland lanes since 2001 and a member of the Miami Bowling Association in Miami, OK. Mel enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting for mushrooms, watching baseball, NASCAR races, and movies, and was an OU football fan. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Alvin Masters, Othonell Snowder, and Charles Snowder; and one sister Melba Collins. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Snowder of the home; daughter Debi Graham and her husband Wade of Maysville, AR; two grandsons; Taylor Graham and Hunter Graham both of Maysville, AR; great granddaughter MaKayla Graham; one sister Wilma Shannon of Lincoln, AR; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will greet friends at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, OK on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 6PM to 8PM. Melâ�™s ashes will be interred at the Ketchum Cemetery, Ketchum, OK.
