Grove, OK - Meta Marjorie Hill, 90, died Friday morning, March 23, 2007 at Grove Nursing Center, Grove, Oklahoma. Meta was born January 18, 1917 at Grove to Virgil Foley and Mary Katherine "Kate" (Smith) Foley. She grew up in Grove and was a graduate of Grove High School. In her entire school history, Meta had perfect attendance for all 12 years. Meta went to Beauty School in Joplin, Missouri while working in Grove. She went by bus to Maryland to marry Rann Hill, before he shipped out for his military service. The couple was wed on February 8, 1945. After his honorable discharge from the service, the Hills moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Meta worked as a beautician for Dillard's. In 1958, the Hills moved to Grove and Meta continued working in a salon there for many years. She grew up in the Grove First Baptist Church and was known to many as "Miss Meta". Meta loved to fish and to travel. She is survived by her cousins, Paula Gallier of Grove, Oklahoma, Alvin Foley of Kellyville, Oklahoma, Bobbie East of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Aline Shook of Cleveland, Oklahoma, who was also her caregiver for many years. She is also survived by a niece, Judy Herron of Tulsa. Miss Meta was preceded in death by her husband, Rann, in 1984; by her parents and an infant child. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2007 at Barron Cemetery, Vaughn, Arkansas with Pastor Doug Rainbolt officiating. Service and interment are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove. Visitation will be Sunday, 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
