Michael Dale Buzzard, former Jay resident, died Monday at a Tulsa hospital at the age of 56 years. Michael was born on August 4, 1953 in Amarillo, TX to his parents, Paul and Jean Buzzard. He attended Gray school near Disney during his junior high years then transferred to Jay High School where he graduated in 1971. He was active in the student council, high school band, and football. After graduating, he attended NSU where he majored in Journalism and was a writer for the college newspaper. Mike was an avid fisherman and a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed playing fantasy football with his family and friends and won the championship trophy a few times. Mike was an advocate for the less fortunate than himself. He is preceded in death by an older brother Paul Edward Buzzard Jr. Mike is survived by his parents, Paul Edward Buzzard and Clara Imogene (Pope) Buzzard; daughters, Heather Dawn Cross and husband, Everett, and Sara Buzzard Sanders; grandchildren, Myranda, Aubrey, Malachi, and Gage; sisters, Sue Boucke and husband David of Placerville, CA, Jennita Brown and husband Dennis of Grove, Linda Bingham and husband Mack of Eucha, and Katherine Rex of Bentonville, AR; nephews, Justin and Derek Bingham, Brandon Brown, Sean and Jason Cambern; nieces, Sasha Wyatt and Thressa Brown; as well as many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Disney, OK with Pastor Daryl Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Yellow Tree Cemetery near Jay, OK.
