ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Michael J. "Mickey Jo" Morrison, age 58 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Michael Joseph Morrison was born in Bartlesville on September 18, 1957. He was the son of Loyd Washington Morrison and Patsy "Pat" Lou (Shipley) Morrison. He was raised and received his education in Dewey, Oklahoma, graduating from Dewey High School in 1975. Michael grew up helping his dad at the Benson Lumber Company in Dewey. In 1978, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company in the Computing department. He then accepted a position with Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1994, also working in their computing department. In 2011 Michael took early retirement. Michael was a die-hard OSU fan. He always said, "I bleed orange." His favorite band was Grand Funk Railroad. Mash was his favorite TV show. Michael loved his children, grandchildren and his dog, Shooter. As a member of the Delaware tribe, he participated in and was a member of the Lenape Gourd Dance Society and the Southern Eagle Ridge Drum Group. He spent much of his time learning for himself and teaching his family about their Delaware heritage. Survivors include two daughters, Kristin Morrison and Cody Hatheway of Bartlesville, and Kari Morrison of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren, Chase Morrison, Dylan and Jake Wilburn, Mekenzie Sawyer, and Trenton Hatheway. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Pat Morrison; and his grandparents, Roy and Leona Shipley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delaware Pow Wow Committee, c/o Elaine Clinton, 401050 W. 600 Rd., Copan, OK 74022. A Wake will be held for Mickey on Monday, September 5, starting at 6:00 PM, in the Delaware Tribal Center, 5100 Tuxedo Blvd., Bartlesville. The funeral service will be celebrated at the Delaware Tribal Center on Tuesday, September 6, at 10:00 AM. Tony Killscrow will be the officiant.
