Michael E. Sanders, 55 of Colcord, Oklahoma, passed away on October 1, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends, after a long battle with cancer. Michael was born on September 21, 1955 in Joplin, Missouri to Robert and Lee Jean Sanders Michael was reared in Jay, Oklahoma a 1973 graduate of Jay High School, attending Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Police Academy in Camden, Arkansas, and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Jay United Methodist Church in Jay, Oklahoma. On February 22, 1988, he married his beloved wife, Rena Evins, and was blessed with a son, Jaren Lee Sanders in 1995. Michael was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. Michael served as a Police Officer in surrounding towns for 30 years, including his last 11 years as Chief of Police of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma. He also worked security for the Alyeska Oil Company in Alaska. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, eight Uncles, Tommy, Gary, Gerald and Wesley Goins all of Jay, Oklahoma, Rayburn, Ramsay of Tulsa, Oklahoma, M.L. Epperson of Claremore, Oklahoma, Albert Fryer of Pryor, Oklahoma and Joe Beck of Joplin, Missouri, three Aunts, Bette Potter of Jay, Oklahoma, Maxine Beck of Joplin, Missouri, and LaHoma Ramsay of Grand Lake, Oklahoma. Michael is survived by his wife Rena, and son Jaren Sanders of the home; son Christopher Marler and grandson Charlie Marler of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Sister Robyn Sanders of Houston, Texas; Mother Lee Jean Beauchamp of Jay, Oklahoma, Father, Robert Sanders and his wife Susan of Pryor, Oklahoma, six Aunts Dona Mae Fryer of Pryor, Oklahoma, Annabelle Tuder, Judy Wingard and Sheila Goins of Jay, Oklahoma, Geraldean Anderson and her husband Junior of Southwest City, Missouri and Retta Stolpe and her husband Cliff of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one niece and one nephew, numerous cousins, relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Jay, Oklahoma with Dr. Richard Dayringer officiating. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Wayne Tuder, Eddie Tuder, Mark Tuder, Randy Jackson, Mike Wilkerson and Gary Buchanan; honorary casket bearers include Vince Goins, Dustin Mayfield, Craig Edgett and Ronnie Reece. Interment will be held at the Spavinaw~Strang Cemetery in Spavinaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay, Oklahoma.
