Mildred E. Goins, 92 year-old Vinita resident, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Rosewood Terrace Care Facility. She was born September 1, 1919 in Branson, Colorado to Earl and May (Wood) Losey. Mildred married Cleveland Goins in 1934, he preceded her in death on December 12, 1983, and together they had nine children. Mildred and Cleve lived in Big Cabin most of their life, before moving to Vinita. She worked at Eastern State Hospital and received her LPN license during that time; she moved to Washington and worked at the Western State Hospital. Mildred retired in 1989 and moved back to Vinita, but didn't stay retired for long. She worked for Red Cross and the Craig County Clerk's office through the Green Thumb Program, also as a volunteer with the Senior Companion Program. A few years later she retired from those programs to enjoy her favorite past time, making quilts and crocheting. While living at the Cherokee Housing Apartments she was a member of the ladies group who got together weekly to quilt and enjoy pot luck lunches. Mildred entered her quilts in fairs and quilt shows where she won many ribbons for her needle work. Mildred collected all news articles of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended all their activities while she was able. She loved her family and will be missed very much. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Cleve; her parents; brothers, L. E. Losey, Herbert Losey; Sister Dorothy Valk; sons John, Rodney and Larry (infant) and one infant great-grandson; a sister in-law, Mildred Losey. The surviving family includes: Sons, Raymond Goins and wife Sandy of Fresno, California, Garry Goins and wife Wynona of Vinita, Jerry Goins of Louisiana; daughters, Faye Jones and husband Ronnie of Vinita, Christina Bettencourt of Washington, Connie Bogle and husband Gary of Langley; daughter in-law, Wauneta Goins of Chelsea; twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the Big Cabin Cemetery.
