Mildred Minson

Mildred (Vogel) Minson, 94 year old life time Vinita resident, died Thursday morning, December 13, 2012 at the Integris Baptist Health Center in Miami. She was born December 23, 1917 in Burkburnett, Texas to Oliver Adolph Vogel and Mattie Christian (Wagner) Vogel. Mildred was a graduate of Vinita High School, where she played on the Vinita Queen Bees Basketball Team, that finished 2nd in their region in 1934. Mildred married Vernon Monroe Minson on December 22, 1939 in Vinita; he preceded her in death on February 28, 2003. Mildred taught all eight grades at the Cobb School, then third grade at Vinita Schools, combined she taught over 40 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Vinita. She was a dedicated 4-H Leader for many years and was a fan of OSU College and Cardinal Baseball. The family includes: her two sons, Vernon Minson, Jr. and wife Billie of Bluejacket, Ronnie Minson and wife Carolyn of Miami; grandsons, Justin Minson and wife Angela of Miami, Tyson Phillips and wife Jennifer of Catoosa; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Taylor and Gavin Phillips, Tyler and Kylee Minson and Katelyn Blanks; brothers, Lawrence Vogel and wife Patty of Tulsa, Robert Vogel and wife Anna Marie of Edmond; sister Rose Mary Gray of Vinita; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters, Betty Shamblin, Louise Taylor, Marguerite Roberts, and Mattie Jenkins; brothers, Alfred Vogel, Oliver Vogel, and Edwin Vogel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Pastor Bill Richey officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
