Mildred Sparks

Mildred Virginia (Guinn) Sparks, 77 year old Bluejacket resident, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at the Freeman Health Center in Joplin. She was born on May 16, 1936 in Bluejacket to Bill and Qumine (Meaghers) Guinn. Mildred graduated from Bluejacket High School and later attended NEO A& M College in Miami. On November 9, 1957 she married Kenneth B. Sparks in Coffeyville, Kansas at the First Christian Church. They lived in Coffeyville until 1963 when they moved to Miami and in 1992 they moved back to Bluejacket. Mildred had worked at the 59 Minute Cleaners in Miami and also Woody's Café. Her husband Kenneth "KB" Sparks preceded her in death on July 28, 2013. Mildred was a member of the Bluejacket Baptist Church. Mildred was an avid fan of old western movies and John Wayne, she would watch them for hours and hours. She also was an animal lover, enjoyed going to the flea market, and having ice cream and coffee at Braum's with her sister. The family includes: her son David Wayne Sparks and wife Dixie of Vinita; sister Judy Roark of Wyandotte; brothers, Bob Guinn and wife Beverly of Claremore and Tommy Dee Guinn of Coffeyille, KS; three grandchildren, Heather McArthur of Lawton, Lynette Lofgren and April Lilburn of Vinita and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister in-law Gean Guinn, brother in-law Tommy Roark, and her parents. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bluejacket Cemetery, with Pastor Gordon Hatcher officiating.
