Minnie Pearl Barnes 67, of Kingfisher formally of Nowata passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 in the Hospice Quality Care in Del City, Oklahoma. Minnie was born on February 21, 1942 in Alluwe, Oklahoma to Aaron Grambell Hall and Vera Pauline (Huckleby) Hall. She attended school in Alluwe but life's journey took her in another direction before graduating but in 1989 she returned to proudly obtain her GED. Minnie was an extraordinary seamstress; she made all of her own clothes, quilts, and Christmas was always homemade. Minnie married Curtis Eugene Barnes in Miami, Oklahoma in 1971 after a 12 year courtship. She was an active member of the LDS church in Yukon, Oklahoma. Minnie sewed with love for over 30 years making gifts for her family and friends; she loved to read and could spend hours reading before she realized how much time had passed. Minnie was excellent at cross word puzzles, crocheting, and she loved socializing and visiting with people every chance she could. She loved to go antiquing which made her become a collector of several wonderful items and with the help from one of her daughters Minnie became quite the shoe lover and collector. Minnie is survived by her 4 children Brad and his wife Deborah Barnes of Kingfisher, Stella Barnes of Oklahoma City, Mandy Barnes-Farrow and her husband Jessie of Coalinga, California, and Wendall and his wife Nancy Barnes of Mina, Arkansas, 13 grandchildren Jessica Chavez, Ernesto Chavez, Richardo Farrow, Michael Farrow, Xavier Farrow, Cindy Jenkins, Korrie Smith, Michael Long, Erica Ann Long, Shawn McAllister, Heather McAllister, Jonathan McAllister, and Timothy Creekmore, 4 great grandchildren Miranda Chavez, Trevor Jenkins, Mackenzie Herring, and Kyliee Smith, 3 brothers Donald Hall of Muskogee, John and his wife Debra Hall of Oklahoma City, and William and his wife Kathy Hall of Owasso, numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Eugene Barnes, her parents Aaron and Vera Hall, 1 brother James Hall, and 2 sisters Donnie Hall and Vera Mae Hall. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2009 in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with Joe Goodin officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m; there will be a family visitation on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the Barnes family is requesting donations in Minnie's name to be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation; 2600 Network Blvd. Suite 300; Frisco, TX 75034 or the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
