Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma 918-253-3222. Monroe Elmer Taylor, Jr., 89 year old resident of Lakemont, passed away on January 26, 2017. Monroe was born on January 2, 1928 in Tuskegee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Monroe Elmer, Sr. and Flora Rosetta (Wallace) Taylor. Monroe proudly served in the Army Air Corps. Monroe married the love of his life June Claudine Donley in Bristow, Oklahoma on December 21, 1947. Monroe enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and going to church. He enjoyed playing dominoes and music.. Monroe was a member of the Heart of Praise Church. Monroe was greeted in heaven by his parents; two brothers Virgil Taylor and Preston Taylor, and one great grandchild, Jason Jeral Britton, Jr. Left here to miss him dearly is his wife of 69 years, June Taylor, his four children; Pam Seawright of Eucha, Sam Taylor and his wife Connie of Eucha, Debra Taylor of Sterling Kansas and Sharon Hopkins of Jay, one sister Phyllis Bailey of Bristow. Monroe was blessed with eight grandchildren, one step grandchild, sixteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Heart of Praise Church, located in between Grove and Jay on US Hwy. 59, with Pastor Eric Thornburg officiating. Monroe will be laid to rest in the Zena Cemetery. Honoring Monroe's life serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons; David VanMarter, Tim VanMarter, Chris Griffin, Josh Brock, Jonathan Hopkins and Nathan Taylor.
