Morgan Joseph Barlow Jr. of Bartlesville, OK passed away on April 20, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born on November 2, 1933, at home in Wichita, Kansas to Julia Gaughn and Morgan J Barlow Sr.
Morgan was a dedicated and hard worker and proudly supported himself and helped his family from a young age. He delivered newspapers, set pins in a bowling alley, worked at a service station (where he bootlegged beer), worked on family farms and at the packing house, all before graduating high school at Cathedral High School in Wichita. Morgan’s varied employment history gave him fodder for many of his stories that he loved to tell.
Morgan was a member of the US Navy from 1952 until 1956 working in Aviation Electronics at the Hickman Air Force Base in Hawaii. Morgan logged over 3300 hours flying and visited many islands and countries in Asia. He loved Hawaii, the travel and all the different people and cultures he met while there.
After the Navy, he returned to Wichita and graduated from Kansas Newman College with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Once again, he worked and supported himself through school unloading boxcars, tuning cars, driving an ambulance and wrecker, becoming a Seargent in Sheriff’s Reserve and eventually working for Boeing on B-52s. After graduating college, he stayed with Boeing in their Data Processing area until 1979. He moved to Bartlesville Ok to work for Phillips Petroleum in Project Management where he stayed until retirement. Of course he did not stop working after retiring! He was a contractor for a few years, volunteered at Jane Philips Auxiliary and Concern Center for many years, and continued planning ‘projects’ any chance he got.
Morgan met the love of his life, Florence Mies, in Wichita and he happily married her in 1963. They have resided in Bartlesville since 1979 where Florence remains. He is also survived by his son David and wife Aniko of Yucaipa, CA; his daughter Cheryl and granddaughters Mia and Ani of Houston,TX and Oregon; his daughter Michelle of Okarche, OK and his sister Connie Dinda of Florida.
Morgan is preceded in death by his brothers Reggie, Vincent, Emmett, Michael, Daniel and sisters Patty and Mary Ellen.
A rosary and Memorial Service will be held on Monday April 25 starting at 10 am at St Johns Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church.
Morgan has requested that in lieu of flowers and cards, donations be made to The Center of Family Love in Okarche OK (www.centeroffamilylove.org)
