Murray Oguss, aged 89, died February 27, 2007, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma after a brief illness. Murray was born Robert Morris Oguss on April 15, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Nathan and Ida Sussman Oguss. He married Helen Louise Kirn on June 12, 1942, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She predeceased Murray in 1988. ... Murray is survived by his second wife, Florence Kohn, of Tucson, Arizona. Murray's five children by his first wife are: Frances Stallings of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; David Bennett Oguss of Montclair, New Jersey; Emily Robertson of Surrey, BC, Canada; Kenneth Ivan Oguss of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Carl Frederick Oguss of Hilo, Hawaii. Murray also leaves behind nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Murray was a vetern of World War II, serving in the Philippines with the Fighting 96th Batallion of the U.S Navy Sea Bees. He was a member of the VFW, JWV and the Lion's Club. Murray earned a B.A. In Education from Columbia Universty's Teacher's College. He was a hardware retailer in Brooklyn New York. Three generations of Oguss men worked at Borough Park Hardware until it's close in 1998. A memorial service will be held 4pm Sunday afternoon March 4 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bartlesville, 5th and Seneca.
