Benjamin Funeral Service ~~~ Nowata, Oklahoma ~~~ 918-273-2700 Myrle Crosby Taylor, 68, left her earthly home on July 15, 2016. Ms. Taylor was born on September 16, 1947 to John and Beulah Crosby in Baxley, Georgia, and shared the title of first born with her twin sister and lifelong best friend, Marilyn. Ms. Taylor was a Georgia peach who settled in Oklahoma with her young daughter Cindy in the mid-1970s. She married James M. "Jim" Taylor on June 14, 1978, in Miami, OK. Myrle and Jim enjoyed nearly 30 years together in Nowata before his death in January, 2008. Ms. Taylor was a dedicated and hard working Certified Medication Aide (CMA) at the Nowata Nursing Center for numerous years before retirement, and also worked at the Bliss Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed taking vacations in Branson and spending time with family. She was also an avid league bowler for a time in Nowata. Ms. Taylor also had a penchant for fancy rings and nice cars. Ms. Taylor is survived by daughters Cindy Jones, Tinna Wilson, and Cathy McDonough. Ms. Taylor, along with her husband, Jim, also adopted, and reared as their own, two granddaughters, Brianna Brown and Jaimee Gray. Stepchildren include Steve Taylor, Sandra Minnich, and Toni Peña. Ms. Taylor had many other grandchildren, including Jacob Gray, Jon Bever, Angela Bever, Austin Bever, Tara Wilson, Michael Ward, Chris Ward, Paul Ward, Reid Taylor, Christian Peña, Carlie Peña, and Colleen Peña, and numerous great-grandchildren. Ms. Taylor grew up in a large and loving family and her surviving siblings include her beloved twin sister Marilyn Rader, JoAnn Seward, Mary Ellen Roark, Wanell Gibbs, Marie Cone, Winifred Crosby, Connie Thrift, and Johnnie Faye Perry. Ms. Taylor also had many nieces and nephews, and was especially fond of Bobby Swalley and Becky Foster of Nowata. Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Taylor, her parents, and her only brother Dennis Crosby. The funeral service for Ms. Taylor will be on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church in Nowata. Visitation will be at the Benjamin's Funeral Home chapel on Friday, July 22, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening. The family would like to thank Rose Rock Hospice and the Osage Nursing Home for their professional and compassionate care of Ms. Taylor in her last few months battling COPD.
