Nadine Newport

Nadine "Rue" Newport, 95, a longtime Grove resident passed away at Integris Grove General Hospital on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Rue was born on November 6, 1913 to Lundy and Mayme (Shields) Hawkins. She married John M. Newport in 1931; he preceded her in death on July 12, 1978. Mrs. Newport graduated from Fairland High School, she worked for a time for Sunshine Biscuit making crackers and also worked at a few other production type companies during World War II, but, was mostly a homemaker. She attended the Presbyterian Church. Rue was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents and brothers and sisters. Survivors include her nieces Carolyn Young of Gardner, Kansas, Betty Warner of Irvine, California, Wanda Lou Lewis of Long Beach, California and Patricia Faye Suco of Rochert, Minnesota. Funeral services for Mrs. Newport will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove with Mr. Ralph Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairland Cemetery. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
