Nancy Joan Dishinger, 83 year old former Vinita resident, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her home in Elk City, Oklahoma. She was born June 25, 1929 in Big Cabin to Finis Wayne and Ida Josephine (Williams) Hemphill. Nancy was a 1947 graduate of Vinita High School and attended college at University of Tulsa, she was also a former Miss Tulsa. Nancy lived in Joplin and worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Economic Security Coporation, before retiring in 1991. She later moved to Vinita, then to Elk City seven years ago. Nancy loved her family, her poodle Maggie, talking about her family photos. She was big time of the Oklahoma Sooners and Dancing with the Stars. The family includes; her son, Stephen Dishinger and wife Sharon of Willard, Missouri; sisters, Linda Hierholzer and husband Henry of Neosho, Melody Straight and husband Jerry of Seneca; granddaughter, Melissa Lewis and husband Bud of Neosho; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Austin and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bobbie Woolman. The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, January 11, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the White Oak Cemetery, Pastor Bill Busch officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
