Naomi Brown

November 1, 1932 — April 10, 2015

Naomi L. Brown, age 82 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on April 10, 2015 in Jane Phillips Medical Center. Naomi Lorene Brown was born on November 1, 1932 in Ralston, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Harvey Troy Brown and Ruth Clorene (Trotter) Brown. She grew up in Ralston, attending Ralston grade school and high school. After high school, she furthered her education by attending Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 1962, Naomi moved from Ralston to Bartlesville where she became an employee of Phillips Petroleum Company. There she worked in the Benefits Dept. and College Recruiting, Financial Services (Treasury) (30 years) and retired from Financial Services (Chemicals) (7+ years) in 1999. Naomi had been a member of Unity Church of Bartlesville since 1965 and she had served as organist and secretary for the church for many years. She was very active in many organizations. She was a life member of the Jane Phillips Society (formerly Sorority). She was also a member of the Bartlesville Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star where she had served as secretary and organist and was the local chapter Examiner for Proficiency Tests; Past Grand Esther and Past Grand Adah, State of Oklahoma; Past President, Oklahoma Grand Representatives Assn., OES; member of Dewey Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, formerly serving as organist, Order of Amaranth, Bartlesville Court, Order of White Shrine, Bartlesville. She served as State Mother Advisor to the Order of the Rainbow (for girls), as well as serving as Mother Advisor for several years in the Bartlesville Chapter. She was also a member of "Little Red Hens" Chapter Red Hat Society and "The 3D's (Dazzlin' Ditzy Divas)" Red Hat Chapter, Bartlesville. Along with her activities in various organizations, Naomi enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing crafts and music. However, she enjoyed being with her family most of all. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, David and Dale; a daughter, Dawna Jean Summy; a brother, Donald Ray Brown; parents, Ruth and Harvey Brown; and Aunt Nanimae Marshal. She is survived by her son, Michael Summy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her daughter, Renee Brown of Memphis, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Nathan, and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Naomi's memory can be made to Bartlesville Chapter No. 142, c/o Sharon Wehmeyer, Worthy Matron, 342 Cara Lee Lane, Bartlesville, OK 74006 with the designation "G.I. Wishes: Pets for Vets" or to the charity of choice. Visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 11 a.m. in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel. Rev. David Kazmierzak will be the officiant. Interment will follow the service in the Ralston Riverside Cemetery, Ralston, Oklahoma.
