Naomi Masters

Naomi Kathryn Sixkiller Masters was born in the Sycamore Springs community east of Jay, Oklahoma on September 13, 1935. Born into the Wolf Clan of the Cherokee Nation she was the youngest of three daughters born to Effie Peak Sixkiller and Houston Sixkiller. Known as "Bebe" by most of her friends and family, she lived most of her life in Delaware County and was a member of Soul's Harbor Ministries in Jay, Oklahoma. She graduated from Draughon's Business School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked for several years at the Jay Elementary School as a teacher's aid as well as held positions for Cherokee Nation and Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension. She married Kenneth Lynwood Evinger in Payette, Idaho on February 02, 1962. He passed away in March 1969. Two years later she married Tony Lewis Masters on April 12, 1971 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He survives. She is survived by four of her five children: Charlotte Crank of Jay and Muskogee, Oklahoma; Mike Masters of Springfield, MO; Ken Masters of Houston, TX and Dan Masters of Spavinaw, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jonni Lynn Masters who passed away on August 07, 2008. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: the Chad Crank Family of Jay, Oklahoma; Roger Renner Family of Jay, Oklahoma; Nathan Barnes Family of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Jesse Lundsford Family of Grove, Oklahoma; Michael Murphy of Grove, Oklahoma; Ty Masters of Wagoner, Oklahoma and Pake Masters of Berryville, Arkansas. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters including Patrecia Black of Jay, Oklahoma; Ida Ruth Bryant of Jay, Oklahoma; Anna Belle Mitchell of Vinita, Oklahoma; Johnny Sixkiller of Jay, Oklahoma; Josie Jones of Jay, Oklahoma; Kenneth Sixkiller of Grove, Oklahoma; Pricilla Bell of Grove, Oklahoma and Dennis Sixkiller of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Funeral Services for Bebe was 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the First Assembly of God in Jay, Oklahoma with the Reverend Tim Lunsford officiating. Interment was in the Cheater Cemetery near Jay under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Friends and family may send online condolences at www.honoringmemories.com.
