Benjamin Funeral Service, Nowata - Nelda Faye Lewis, 83, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Freeman Health Center in Joplin, Missouri. She was born January 10, 1931, in Union City, Oklahoma to Bill and Bonnie (Barrett) Hendrix. She was raised in Norman, Oklahoma until 1939 when the family moved to Alluwe, Oklahoma. She attended Alluwe Schools and on February 14, 1947 she married Bill Randall. They had four children and then later divorced. In 1961 she married B. Lewis. They made their home in the Coffeyville area until his death in 1998. Nelda was the owner and operator of two Dairy Queen Businesses over the years. For the past several years she worked as the cashier at the Coffeyville Community College cafeteria, where she not only ran the cash register, but let the students know when their dress was not appropriate, as she didn't need to know what underclothing they were wearing. She loved to read books and especially enjoyed watching game shows. She enjoyed attending rodeos, but her most enjoyment came from her time caring for her children, grandchildren, and family. She loved her family very much and will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Lewis in death are her parents, Bill and Bonnie Hendrix; husband, B. Lewis; step daughter, Francie Lewis Fishpaw; a brother, Jack Lee Hendrix; and a sister, Norma Deane Dunn. Survivors of Mrs. Lewis are her sons Billy Ray Randall, of Talala, Oklahoma, and Johnny Lee Randall, of Delaware, Oklahoma; daughters, Debra Cooper of Edna, Kansas and Dena Faye Cook of Coffeyville, Kansas; step children, Donald "Duck" Lewis, of Delaware, Oklahoma, and Lou Brannon, of Bartlesville; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; many other relatives as well as a host of friends.
