Neldena Mathison

Neldena Jessie Mathison, 89, of Big Cabin, OK passed away on January 22, 2007 in Big Cabin. She was born September 27, 1917 in Shamrock, OK to Ottis Ottman and Jesse Vites (Roark) Rice. Mrs. Mathison worked in Banking while living in California. In 1972 when she moved Back to Big Cabin she worked in the insurance industry for Ted Dixon before she retired. Neldena graduated from Big Cabin High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a master seamstress, painting gardening; she also enjoyed to bowl up into her 80's when she had thumb surgery and spent some time traveling to Europe, Italy and Scotland mostly in her 80's. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and knew hers were a notch above the rest. Survivors include her children Shirley Ladonna Gregg of Grove, Raymond Dean Mathison of Big Cabin, Sharon Gayle Waterman of Huntington Beach, CA along with one step-son Donn Mathison of Water Town, WI, one brother Ottis Dale Rice of Las Vegas, NV, thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Big Cabin with Reverend Max Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Cabin Cemetery under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The family has asked that memorial donations be made to REMO Ambulance service to be earmarked for an Automated External Defibrillator to be put on the Big Cabin Ambulance.
