On March 17, 2025, Nellda “Sue” Deller, aged 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sue was born on September 22, 1938, in Duncan, Oklahoma to Harry “Hook” Stewart and Viola (Smith) Stewart. She grew up in Duncan, graduating from Duncan High School. She went on to attend Oklahoma State University.
On March 13, 1960, Sue married the love of her life, Rev. John R. Deller in Duncan, OK. As a devoted minister’s wife, Sue embraced life in various Oklahoma communities including Duncan, Wilson, Okeene, Ponca City, Chandler, Oklahoma City, Idabel, Frederick, Drumright, Cushing, and Dewey. She enjoyed singing in the church choirs and found fellowship serving these communities alongside her husband.
Known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Momma Sue,” her infectious laughter and unconditional love was constant and generously shared. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her loved ones, whether traveling, antiquing, scrapbooking, quilting, baking or playing games with her grandchildren. Sue’s life was a testament to love, family, and the simple pleasures that bring us all together.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Viola Stewart; her husband: Rev. John R. Deller; and her sister: Mary Katherine Shelton.
Those left to cherish the memory of Sue include her children: Lynn Hizer and husband, Cress of Indianapolis, IN, and Mark Deller of Perkins, OK; her grandchildren: Kyle Hizer and Molly Wendling of Fishers, IN, Brittany Hizer and Amit Tripathi of Hinsdale, IL; Benton Hizer of Indianapolis, IN, and Cole Hizer and Maggie Hizer of Louisville, KY; her great-grandchildren: Louis Hizer of Fishers, IN and Ketan Tripathi of Hinsdale, IL; her 2 nephews; and her 5 nieces.
A family gathering is scheduled at 12:30 PM, prior to the funeral service, which will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Dewey Cemetery.
