Newatha Virginia Gurley Obituary Grove, OK - Newatha Virginia Gurley, 86, died Monday, February 12, 2007 at Grand Lake Villa in Grove, Oklahoma. Newatha was born March 16, 1920 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to Houston and Bertha (Crawford) Qualatte. She married Edd Gurley on July 16, 1938. Mr. Gurley preceded his wife in death in 1993. Newatha was a homemaker, and took great pride in her clean house and her excellent cooking. She and Edd loved to listen to old time country music and dance, especially dancing the waltz. They often had people into their home and square-danced until late in the night. She enjoyed fishing and taking care of lake homes. She also enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart. She is survived by three children; Bob Gurley and his wife Margaret of Grove; Cleta Brewer and her husband Jerry of Grove, and Dean Gurley and his wife Betty of Fairland. She is also survived by her brother, Leonard Quallate of Grove and her sister, Nancy Layman of Vinita. Her surviving family also includes twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Gladys Buckett and Jonnie Faye Lewis as well as two brothers; James Qualley and Emmett Crawford. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove with Pastor Dolphus Blevins officiating; Larry Sanders will assist. Interment will follow immediately at Butler Cemetery under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
