Newton E. West, Grove resident, died early Monday morning September 27, 2010 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 65 years. Newton was born on September 5, 1945 in Kansas, Oklahoma to his parents, James Walter and Nellie Mae (Crouch) West. Newton worked as an EMT/Paramedic for a number of years and enjoyed helping others. Newton loved to hunt and fish, collect guns, enjoyed the outdoors, and spending time with his grandkids. Newton married Sandy Thomas in Miami, Oklahoma on February 16, 1973 and they spent 37 wonderful years together before his death. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Walter McCoy and Tommy West. He leaves many loving memories with his family, wife, Sandy, of the home; children, Tina Killion, of Jay, Michael W. Smith of Corpus Christi, TX, Dawn Smith, of Grove; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers, James W. West, of Wagoner and Robert L. West, of Tahlequah; three sisters, Barbara O'Brien, of Commerce, Lillian Overholsen, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Gloria Sinclair, of Tahlequah; as well as many other loving relatives and numerous friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 PM Monday October 4, 2010 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove.
