Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma 918-253-3222. Norma Marie (Potter) Thornton, age 97, of Jay, Oklahoma passed away April 10, 2016 at Monroe Manor in Jay with family by her side. Norma was born on September 16, 1918 in Salina, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John and Orpha (Englehardt) Potter. Norma taught school in Salina from 1954-1958 and taught English at Jay High School, as well as, elementary grades at Jay since 1958. She received her Master of Teaching degree in 1962 from Northeastern. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Thornton in 1999. They were married July 2, 1938. She is survived by three children, Glenda McCoy and husband Mac, Clinton Thornton and wife Mary, and Clifford Thornton and wife Susie. She also has 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3PM, Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Bryans Chapel Cemetery in Boatman Community near Salina, Oklahoma with Robert Backward officiating.
