Norman Clyde Jarvis, 84 year old rural Miami resident, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at his home. He was born April 8, 1926 at Bernice to Bailey and Lilian Marie (Wallen) Jarvis. Norman attended Cleora School and later served his country in the United States Army. He married Vera Jones on November 20, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Norman had driven a truck for Rodeway for a few years, but farming, dairy and beef cattle were his life's work. He enjoyed traveling to the northern states to see large dairy farms and watching his St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. The family includes; his wife Vera of the home, four children, Tom Jarvis and wife Pam of Afton, Wayne Jarvis and wife Jana of Miami, Marsha Martins and husband Keith of Vinita, Terri Lane and husband Jim of Afton; sisters, Sandra Powell of Afton, Johnnie Hensley of Afton, Charolette McSpadden of Ketchum, Jean Ballenger of Afton, a brother Bill Jarvis of Big Cabin; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Faye Towell. The funeral will be held Monday, June 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cleora United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rich Brasher officiating.
