Olen Gene Bryant, age 80 a resident of Disney, OK died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Ketchum, OK. He was born May 13, 1929 in Stonewall, OK the son of Pleasant L. Bryant and Helen Lavinia Thompson Bryant. He was raised and educated education at Jay, OK. Olen and Hildred Erwin were married on October 28, 1949 in Tulsa, OK and made their home in Disney where he lived for seventy years and was a self employed carpenter and builder for over sixty three years. He helped build the bridge below the Grand River Dam and was one of the first fire fighters with the Tia Juana Fire Dept. and built many homes in the lake area. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved baseball, playing, coaching and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinal's. Olen leaves behind his wife, Hildred of the home, two daughters, Sherry George of Claremore, OK, Linda Simmons of Pensacola, OK, one brother, Bert Bryant of Norman, OK, two sisters, Betty Gatewood of Edmund, OK and Ruth Rush of Springfield, MO, Four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday October 3, 2009, at Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home at Langley at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Williams officiating with interment to follow in the Ketchum Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel South Grand lake Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at honoringmemories.com.
