Oneita Hendren

January 16, 1924 — April 5, 2012

Oneita Ione Hendren, age 88, passed away on April 5, 2012 in Bartlesville, OK. She was born in Quapaw, OK on January 16, 1924 to James and Elsie (Shira) Burke. On September 6, 1940, Howard Kenneth Hendren became her husband. As a couple they resided on their farm near Centralia and later in Vinita and on Grand Lake. Oneita was a member of the Cleora Baptist Church. She is survived by : two sons, Howard Ross Hendren of Chelsea, OK and Tim Hendren of Lawton, OK; and three daughters Janice Shamblin and husband Richard of Seattle, WA, and Joyce Hendren and Jackie Hendren of Bartlesville, OK; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Marilea Marks of Longview, TX; one brother, Vernon Burke of Port Isabel, TX; and a special sister-in-law and friend, Earlene Snyder of Miami, OK. Oneita was preceded in death by: husband, Howard K. Hendren; son, Marvin (Cotton) Hendren; parents, Jim and Elsie (Shira) Burke; two sisters, Frances Baker Boswell and Norma Watts; and two brothers Melvin Burke and Monty Burke. A Celebration of Life and visitation will be held at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2012. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton, OK. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
