Opal was born in Lincoln, Nebraska; she was one of 5 children born to Claude and Mable Hollers. On May 24, 1942 she married Elmer Blodgett in Detroit, Michigan. They moved around the country accompanied by her little brother Roy, pulling a trailer as Elmer served in the U. S. Navy. They settled in California while Elmer served in the Navy, she worked as a welder and riveter working on ships being built in the shipyards. They stayed and worked in California after the war and then moved to Atchison, Kansas to a farm with their baby girl Becky. They ran a grade A dairy and worked side by side selling milk and raising chickens. In 1959 they moved to the Grove, Oklahoma, area and ran a resort on Grand Lake. They sold the resort in 1967 when Elmer retired, and bought a house in Grove. Opal not one to sit, then went to work for the U. S. Post Office in Grove as a rural carrier. When she retired from the Post Office then-representative Jerry Littlefield presented her with a resolution commemorating the day. After she retired she and Elmer traveled and became snow birds spending winters in McAllen, Texas, before Elmer death in 1983. Opal was an active member of First Christian Church, in Grove; she sang in the choir and was a member of The Lamplighters. She went to be with her God on September 10, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Minnetta Daler and Lou Finegan; her brother Claude Hollers. She is survived by her daughter Becky and son-in-law Terry Fox, her brother Roy Hollers, her two grandchildren Tamara Cochran and husband Tim; Jeff Holt and wife Jennifer; four great grandchildren, Taylor and Jordan Cochran; Dylan and Jackson Holt and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Opal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma.
