Opal Lea Hutton, 84-year-old Nowata resident, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Hutton was born July 19, 1925 in Oglesby, Oklahoma to Jess Taylor and Lova Mae Gouglar-Taylor. She grew up in the Oglesby area which is where she also attended schools. On May 2, 1952, she married William "Bill" Hutton in Oglesby. Mrs. Hutton was a devout homemaker whose life revolved around her family, her church, and church activities. She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God in Nowata. Mrs. Hutton was a member of the Women's Ministry Group at the church and was also quite active in mission work. She traveled numerous times as a cook during mission trips with the First Assembly of God in Caney, Kansas. Mrs. Hutton was a talented seamstress who made quilts for missionaries that have likely made their way around the world. She has even produced a wedding dress. Mrs. Hutton volunteered numerous hours during the 10-33 Chicken Noodle dinners. When she had some spare time, she loved gardening. Mrs. Hutton is survived by her husband Bill Hutton of the home; by two daughters, Virginia Lea Morris and Cathy Jo Ketcher; by four sisters, Beulah Taylor of Bartlesville, Gladys Nichols of Nowata, Mavis Cedarberg of Firth, ID, Nancy Melendez of Venice, FL; by five brothers, Vernon Taylor of Bartlesville, Bob Taylor of Bartlesville, and L.J. Taylor of Sunray, Texas, Paul Taylor of Bartlesville and David Taylor of Bartlesville; by three grandchildren, Matthew D. Morris of West Plains, MO, Andrew W. Morris of Edmond, and Daniel A. Ketcher of Ozark, MO; by great-grandchildren, Avery M. Morris of West Plains and Luke M. Morris of West Plains. Mrs. Hutton was preceded in death by her parents; by one sister, Emmabelle Pierce; and by one brother, Thomas D. Taylor. Funeral services for Mrs. Hutton will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, October 30, 2009 at the New Life Assembly of God in Nowata with Mike Morris, Rev. Arlis Henegar, and Rev. Joe Goodin officiating. Interment will be in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home between the hours of 7pm and 8pm Thursday.
