Oscar "O.C." Cowden Rush Jr. passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Grove, Oklahoma. O.C. was born on September 27, 1920 to Oscar Cowden Rush Sr and Lena Alwilda (Vaughn) Rush. Oscar Joined the United States Navy in 1939 and served during World War II as a 1st class radioman. He was also a telegrapher for the railroad. O.C. was the manger of the Ku-Ku in Miami, for over ten years, before he began his career in law enforcement. He was the Undersheriff for Ottawa County for a number of years. Oscar enjoyed fishing, especially jug fishing. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion, and a member of the Akdar Shriners of Tulsa, Nowata Masonic Lodge and Southeast Baptist Church in Miami, Oklahoma. O.C. was preceded in death by his parents, a son Stephen David, and a brother, La Rue Rush. Oscar is survived by his wife Shirley, of the home, three sons, Roger Allan of Oklahoma City, OK, Tim C. Williamson and Terry W. Williamson, both of Grove, Oklahoma, Eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He also left behind his best fishin' buddy, Grover Wilhite of Stilwell, OK and his grand puppies, Poodle Poco and Yorkie Sugar Baby. Memorial services for O.C. are 11:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2011at South Ridge Baptist Church in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Inurnment will be on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 1:00 PM. The United States Navy will provide Funeral Honors.
