Otis "Sonny" Glen Harlan, 77year old lifelong resident of Big Cabin died Tuesday September 21, 2010 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born April 16, 1933 in Big Cabin OK, the son of Norville and Della Campbell Harlan. Otis was raised and educated at Big Cabin where he graduated high school. He attended NEO Miami then Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, OK where he earned his masters in education. Upon graduating college Sonny served two years in the U.S. Army. Otis taught and coached two years at Delaware, 11 years at White Oak where he became the artistic woodworker. He came to Vinita in 1970 and taught at Vinita High School until his retirement in 1991. He was a sports enthusiast and started the Girls Basketball program at Vinita High School, he also taught math, industrial arts. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid fisherman. Otis leaves behind four children: Pam and Calvin Wilkins, Don and Joanie Harlan both of White Oak, OK, Kevin Harlan of Jenks, OK and Angie and Bill Greenwalt of Big Cabin, OK, 11 grand children and 6 great grand children. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death. Memorial services will be Friday September 24, 2010 at Luginbuel Funeral Home at 10:00 with Rev. Max Adams officiating.
